ABOUT ME

My Approach

My first priorities in counseling are to build trust, and create a safe place for you to talk through problems. My style is authentic, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. My practice is an inclusive space for folks to heal and feel understood.  I'm pretty direct (but still empathetic, of course), and I'll encourage you to be direct with me too. I find that the most healing happens when we're honest and real with ourselves, as well as others.

I customize my approach to the uniqueness of each person. We might use a mix of talk therapy, worksheets, or other exercises. I use tools from CBT, EMDR, person-centered therapy, and more.

If you're new to therapy or you've had bad experiences with therapy in the past, I'll work hard to make sure you're comfortable and have a positive experience this time.

Therapy isn't always serious or difficult - it can actually be a positive and uplifting part of your week. Whenever possible, I try to balance out the difficult moments with lightness and hope.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy time in nature, writing, and creating art. (My favorite mediums are painting, drawing, and digital illustration.)

My Values

Giving back to humanity in a meaningful way

Adhering to the ethical/legal obligations of my field

Practicing self care to make sure I provide quality care to clients

Respecting each person's autonomy and individuality

  • I do not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, ableism, body shaming, or bigotry of any kind.
  • I am a feminist, an LGBTQIA+ ally, and a proponent of racial equality and diversity.
  • I have worked with folks who are deaf, blind, neurodivergent, and physically disabled, and am a strong advocate for accessibility.
