Empathetic
My first priorities in counseling are to build trust & create a safe place for you to talk things through. My style is understanding, flexible, and nonjudgmental. I strive to allow everyone to feel heard & understood.
Relational
Having a therapist who is the right fit is essential. I make sure to build a relationship with each person before diving in. If you're new to therapy, or you've had bad therapy experiences in the past, I'll do my best to make sure you're comfortable & have a better experience.
Authentic
I'm pretty direct (but respectful), and I encourage you to be direct with me too. I find that the most healing happens when we're honest with ourselves & others. Radical honesty can feel weird & unfamiliar - but that's okay. Be ready to get comfortable with the uncomfortable!
Customized
I tailor my approach to each unique person. We may use a mix of talk therapy, worksheets, or other tools. I draw from CBT, EMDR, & other modalities. Also, therapy isn't always serious - it can actually be an uplifting part of your week. Whenever possible, I try to balance out tough moments with lightness & hope.
